OIC-Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Sector and concurrent NIA Region III Manager Engr. Josephine B. Salazar led the conduct of Aurora-Nueva Ecija Irrigation Management Office (ANE IMO) Turnover of Completed Projects, IA Consultation, and Contract Signing in the Province of Nueva Ecija on March 1, 2024 at Division III Events Center, NIA UPRIIS Compound, Imelda District, Cabanatuan City.
A total of 19 Irrigators Association with 1,637 farmer-beneficiaries will benefit from 19 completed projects from CY 2022 to CY 2023. The CY 2022 completed projects include Bibiclat CIP, Cabileo CIP, Paitan CIP, Simimbaan SWIP, Agupalo Este CIP, Canaan East Capisungan PIP, Casilagan SWIP, Lusok CIP, Danasa CIP, Salwit SWIP, San Antonio CIP, Popolon CIP, Betania CIP, Binumbunan CIP, Cordero CIS. On the other hand, the CY 2023 completed projects include Sagaba CIS, San Agustin CIS, Ted Ted Ti Ling-It CIS, and Bulalakay CIS.
The Contract Signing of Modified Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) between NIA and 90 IAs in Nueva Ecija was also facilitated. This is based on Memorandum Circular No. 147, Series of 2023, increasing the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Subsidy from P150/hectare/cropping to P500/hectare/cropping. It aims to augment the high inflation rate including the high cost of materials and labor. IA Consultative Forum was also conducted to address the issues and concerns of IA officials and members.
Partner-agencies, such as Department of Agriculture (DA RFO III), National Food Authority (NFA), and Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), were also present in the event to brief the IAs of the plans and programs for them.
