CAMRIS STAFF LEADS TRAINING ON INNOVATIVE WATER MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES

To promote sustainable farming practices, NIA CAMRIS staff, led by Engr. Rogelio D. Velasco, Jr., organized a comprehensive training on the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) method and system management in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on September 23 – 25, 2024. The program highlighted techniques to improve water efficiency in agriculture, catering to the needs of modern irrigation systems.

NIA Region III Acting Planning and Design Section Chief Engr. Kristoffer A. Santiago and Engr. John Louie S. Urbano of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Section served as the training resource persons. The attendees gained valuable insights into the technical aspects of irrigation management. On the other hand, Dr. Gilbert M. Salamero, Head Teacher at Gabaldon Vocational Agriculture High School and President of TABASACA IA, offered a practical perspective on integrating these methods into local agricultural practices.

The training served as a platform for the promotion of water conservation, crop productivity, and sustainable farming in the region.
