CONTRACT FARMING

Mr. Feliciano Urbano, a farmer member of Ulingao-Pinacpinacan Irrigators Association (UPIA) harvested palay under the NIA Region III Contract Farming Program on Augist 30, 2024 in Pinacpinacan, San Rafael, Bulacan. The average yield from a partial area is around 47 cavans per 0.5 hectares out of a total of 1.5 hectares of farmland.

NIA Bulacan IMO Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Section, led by IMO Manager Engr. Placida C. Cordero and Section Chief Engr. Ernesto L. Mapoy, Jr., through their assigned personnel, witnessed the weighing and hauling of the harvested palay.

The said program is aligned with the government's aim to ensure food security, to protect consumers, and to provide assistance to the farmers. In this regard, NIA sells the rice at P29 per kilogram in Kadiwa stores with the priority to serve senior citizens, solo parents, persons with special needs, and members of 4Ps.
