To ensure a steady and uninterrupted flow of irrigation water to local farmlands, ongoing desilting efforts at Canal No. 2 in Matayumtayum, La Paz, Lateral A in Maliwalo, and Sub-Lateral B3 in Villa Bacolor, Tarlac City are rolling out.
Spearheaded by the NIA Tarlac Irrigation Management Office (IMO), under the leadership of Engr. Alvin Roberto A. David, these activities are part of regular maintenance operations aimed at maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the irrigation system in the region.
The desilting work focuses on removing sediment buildup and other debris that can obstruct the flow of water through the canals. Over time, sediments accumulate, which can reduce water flow, compromise irrigation efficiency, and hinder the ability of the system to deliver water where it's most needed. By addressing these blockages, the ongoing clearing operations help to restore the proper flow of water, ensuring that agricultural lands receive the necessary irrigation for crop growth.
