NIA Region III, Zambales IMO, consultants from Urban Engineers, NCIP-Cabangan (Botolan) Service Center, Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), and representatives from Indigenous People (IP) Community organized and took part in the Field-Based Investigation (FBI) for the Detailed Engineering Study of the proposed Cabangan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (Cabangan SRIP) located in the Municipality of Cabangan, Zambales on August 8, 2024.
Engr. Rolando C. Espino, NIA Zambales IMO Manager, led the discussion on the proposed project and addressed questions posed by the IP Community representatives. Insights and clarifications about the project’s scope and objectives were provided. The discussion aimed to foster transparent communication and collaboration among all stakeholders, particularly with those directly affected by the proposed project.
FBI will ascertain whether any ancestral domains traditionally owned and culturally significant to the IP Community are present within the proposed project’s development areas. It is also a key part for the Detailed Engineering Study of proposed irrigation projects, ensuring that the entire project implementation process respects and integrates the needs and rights of the IP community.
