Despite the suspension of government work in preparation for Typhoon Kristine in Pampanga, the KADIWA ng Pangulo event at NIA Pampanga-Bataan Irrigation Management Office (PamBat IMO) pushed through on October 23, 2024, bringing much-needed relief to the community by offering Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka (BBM) Rice at P29 per kilo.
Led by IMO Manager Engr. Ruben R. Llamas, together with Institutional Development Unit (IDU) Head Reyna S. Sabado and her team, the event sold 300 sacks of rice, harvested from the Valdez Pulung Masle Talang Maquiapo Irrigators Association (VPTM IA) of Porac Gumain River Irrigation Systems (PGRIS). The sale focused on senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, and 4Ps beneficiaries, ensuring that these vulnerable groups have access to affordable rice even during the storm.
Unshaken by the typhoon’s arrival, the dedication of PamBat IMO to public service ensured that the community's urgent needs were met. It demonstrates NIA's unwavering commitment to make food accessible and affordable, especially during times of crisis.
