Led by Engr. Clarita G. Silverio, the Pampanga Delta River Irrigation System (PDRIS) under the NIA Pampanga-Bataan IMO has successfully distributed the first tranche of funds to Barangay San Pedro San Juan (Timak), San Simon Farmers and Irrigators Association Inc., and First San Pedro San Simon IA which participate and support the NIA’s Rice Contract Farming Program. The funds will be used for essential land preparation tasks, such as harrowing, plowing, leveling, and crop maintenance. A total of 44 farmer-members, covering 71.1 hectares, benefitted from the program. This effort held on May 31, 2024 in Barangay San Pedro, San Simon, Pampanga is part of a broader program aimed at boosting production and ensuring food security in the country.
The meeting aims to provide insurance protection against losses arising from natural calamities, plant diseases, and pest infestations of their palay crops to the farmers who signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Rice Contract Farming.
