NIA and Local Farmers United to Tackle Agricultural Challenges in Pampanga

Floridablanca, Pampanga – May 24, 2024

A consultation meeting was convened at Brgy. Cabangcalan, Floridablanca, Pampanga, bringing together key stakeholders to address pressing issues in the agricultural sector. The National Irrigation Administration (NIA), represented by OIC-Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Sector and concurrent Regional Manager Engr. Josephine B. Salazar, led the meeting. She was joined by NIA PamBat IMO Manager Engr. Ruben R. Llamas, District Representative Hon. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and local farmers from the 2nd District of Pampanga, including 27 Irrigators' Associations (IAs) from PGRIS and 16 IAs from Pampanga CIS.

The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss the NIA’s government support programs and proposed convergence initiatives with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). These programs aim to tackle the various concerns and challenges faced by the agricultural community within the district.

The discussion highlighted the importance of fostering better communication and collaboration between the government and the farming community. By addressing these issues collectively, the stakeholders aim to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region.

This meeting marks a fundamental step towards strengthening the partnership between the government and local farmers, ensuring that their needs and challenges are met with effective solutions. The engagement underscores the commitment of the NIA and other government entities to support and uplift the agricultural sector in Pampanga.
