In an effort to boost agricultural productivity, representatives from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region III, teamed up with the officials from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Bureau of Soil and Water Management (BSWM), and Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE) at Field Operations Service Conference Room, DA building, October 3, 2024.
The gathering was spearheaded by the DA through the BSWM, and was attended by NIA Engineering and Operations Division Manager Engr. Christian C. Manalo, and Pampanga-Bataan IMO Manager Engr. Ruben R. Llamas, and the key officials from DA for Operations and Agri-fisheries Mechanization Undersecretary Roger Navarro, DPWH Undersecretary Ma. Catalina Cabral, and BAFE Director Ariodear Rico.
One of the discussed agenda was about the Candaba marsh in Pampanga. The meeting focused on conceptualizing innovative projects to create efficient water management systems for improving food production and possible cooperative approaches to investigate water management interventions that would help marsh and swamp areas.
Furthermore, the proposed water management systems will be an avenue to opening the door for sustainable farming methods, improving regional food security and guaranteeing the farming communities' financial success in the future.
