In preparation for the Typhoon Kristine, Engr. Ruela C. Musngi, the newly appointed Acting Head of the Bataan Satellite Office of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Pampanga-Bataan Irrigation Management Office (PamBat IMO), led an inspection of key irrigation structures in Bataan on October 22, 2024. The monitoring covered the Colo Dam, Mangindong Dam, Layac Dam, and Balsik Dam, which are essential to the province's irrigation system.
Accompanied by the Operation and Maintenance staff, the group assessed the current status of the said dams to ensure they are in optimal condition to withstand the typhoon’s potential impact.
A local farmer leader was also present during the inspection, voicing concerns and seeking updates on the progress of the ongoing projects under the Colo River Irrigation System (RIS).
Overall, the inspection highlights the agency's continued dedication to the proactive and responsible management of critical water resources in the face of natural disasters.
