NIA BULACAN IMO JOINS RIVER CLEAN-UP DRIVE FOR WORLD WETLANDS DAY

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Bulacan Irrigation Management Office (IMO), through its Operation and Maintenance Section, took part in a successful River Clean-Up Drive organized by CENRO Baliwag in celebration of World Wetlands Day on February 4, 2025. This year’s theme, "Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future," highlights the urgency of global efforts and transformative actions to safeguard wetlands, ensuring their benefits for future generations.

The clean-up focused on the Angat River Trench, situated between Brgy. Tibag and Brgy. Poblacion in Baliwag City, Bulacan, and was aligned with the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Project. The goal was to remove waste and debris from the river, helping to maintain the flow of clean water and preserve the area’s ecological balance.

Furthermore, this initiative also fostered stronger inter-agency collaboration, bringing together key government institutions such as the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Baliwag, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
