As part of NIA’s commitment to the Sustainable Livelihood Program - Zero Hunger Program of DSWD, the Institutional Development Unit (IDU) of Pampanga-Bataan IMO, led by Reyna S. Sabado and supported by Pampanga-Bataan IMO Manager Enrgr. Ruben R. Llamas and Region III IDS Chief Eden N. Garcia, successfully conducted a Capacity Development Training for farmers on September 11-13, 2024 in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.
The training, which focused on Social Preparation and Rice Straw-Based Mushroom Cultivation, aimed to empower members of the local Irrigators Association (IA). On the first day, DSWD Special Concern Officer Cynthia Alzona provided guidelines on Memorandum Circular No.7, which outlines the Comprehensive Implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program. On the other hand, PDO-II Brenda Mendoza led the sessions on leadership, micro-entrepreneurship, VMGO setting, and conflict resolution. During the second day, Mr. Maynard Baluyot of TESDA, demonstrated rice straw-based mushroom growing techniques. This equipped farmers with the knowledge to enhance their agricultural practices and foster sustainable livelihoods in their communities.
The event was made possible through the support of various partner agencies, contributing to NIA’s goal of promoting sustainable agriculture.
