On August 28, 2024, NIA Pampanga-Bataan IMO Engineering Section, headed by Engr. Angelito D. David, conducted a coordination meeting with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Service Center Chief. The discussion centered around the ongoing feasibility study for the Upper Gumain IP, Pasig-Potrero IP, and Sacobia IP projects.
Representatives from NIA Region III Office (RIO) Planning and Design Section Acting Chief Engr. Kristoffer A. Santiago together with Environmentalist Deshma Joy Sambrano, PamBat IMO staffs, and Indigenous People (IP) leaders from the Porac and Floridablanca communities participated in the meeting. A key topic was the preparation of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to facilitate activities within the ancestral domain areas.
Once the MOA is signed, NCIP will provide the necessary assistance to NIA for gaining access to these areas, marking a significant step forward in the project's progress. The meeting underscores the collaborative efforts between NIA and NCIP to ensure the successful implementation of the feasibility study while respecting the rights and traditions of the IP communities involved.
