From January 6-10, 2025, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) - Zambales IMO, through the initiative of Nayom-Bayto River Irrigation System (NBRIS) Satellite Office Acting Head Mr. Oscar M. Madarang under the guidance of Acting Division ManagerEngr. Enrique G. Carlos successfully facilitated the desilting of Nagsaran Dam located in Brgy. Tubo-Tubo North, Sta. Cruz, Zambales.
This vital activity was conducted to restore the dam’s designed capacity, ensuring it can adequately meet the irrigation water requirements of the Bitsandu Irrigators Association (IA). The association serves an area of 294.41 hectares at the Bayto side of the Nayom-Bayto RIS.
The intervention is particularly critical as rice crops in the area are currently at the vegetative stage, a period requiring a consistent and sufficient water supply to ensure healthy growth.
NIA-Zambales IMO remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering efficient irrigation services. The team will continue to strictly monitor the irrigation systems and proactively respond to concerns, providing timely interventions to improve water delivery and support farmers across the province.
