In a groundbreaking move, the Pampanga Delta River Irrigation Systems (PDRIS) of the Pampanga-Bataan IMO released the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Subsidy for the PDRIS Federation of Irrigators Associations, Inc. on August 12, 2024.
A total amount of P5.399 million was handed over to Federation President Nazario Vinuya during a ceremonial check release at the Office of the Division Manager. The subsidy is part of the CY 2024 Dry Season O&M program and was granted in accordance with Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 147, Series of 2023, which amended MC No. 91, series of 2021. This amendment significantly increased the O&M subsidy from P150 per hectare per cropping to P500 per hectare per cropping, providing much-needed support to the region's farmers.
PamBat IMO's release of the subsidy is the first in Region III and is a testament to the office's commitment to supporting local farmers and improving irrigation infrastructure. The success of this initiative is attributed to the dedicated efforts of PDRIS O&M Chief Engr. Clarita G. Silverio, under the leadership of Division Manager Engr. Ruben R. Llamas.
Key personnel from PamBat IMO, including Engineering Section Chief Engr. Angelito D. David, PGRIS O&M Acting Chief Engr. Alexius S. Academia, Administrative and Finance Section Chief Mrs. Jocelyn O. Dizon, Institutional Development Unit Chief Mrs. Reyna Sabado, O&M CLBRIS OIC Mrs. Annalyn S. Miguel, along with other PDRIS staff members attended the event.
This pioneering move by PamBat IMO marks a significant milestone in the region’s agricultural sector, setting a precedent for other IMO offices to follow suit in supporting local irrigators.
