On August 12, 2024, NIA Pampanga-Bataan IMO held a coordination meeting with the representatives from NIA Regional Office and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP). The discussion focused on the feasibility studies (FSs) for three irrigation projects, namely, the Upper Gumain Irrigation Project (UGIP), Pasig Potrero Irrigation Project (IP), and Sacobia IP.
The meeting aimed to ensure that the projects are aligned with the needs of local communities, including those of indigenous people, and to address any potential environmental and social impacts. The collaboration between PamBat IMO, the Regional Office, and NCIP underscores the importance of inclusive planning and consultation in irrigation development.
The said irrigation projects are expected to boost agricultural productivity and water resource management in the region, benefitting local farmers and communities in the long run.
