The Zambales Irrigation Management Office successfully conducted a public consultation as part of the Land Acquisition and Resettlement Plan (LARP) Formulation for the Cabangan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) on January 28, 2025 at Cabangan, Zambales.
Led by Engr. Enrique G. Carlos, Division Manager, alongside Engr. Cedrik Louise R. Carlos, Engineering Section Chief, this event served as an important platform for farmers, landowners, and local government units (LGUs) to give a clear understanding of the project—its objectives, its design, and its potential benefits—as well as the challenges along the way.In attendance were Hon. Ronaldo F. Apostol, Municipal Mayor of Cabangan, Mr. Emmanual Flores for the DENR, with honorable guests from the Municipal Agriculturist’s Office, Municipal Planning Office, Barangay Officials, IA Presidents, and other relevant interested parties.
The open floor discussion was a key part of the session, and participants raised various thoughtful concerns on the project’s impact on nearby communities. Local residents expressed both support and caution, underscoring the importance of responsible implementation and ensuring that community interests are safeguarded throughout the project’s lifecycle.
The input gathered from this session will play a pivotal role in shaping the ongoing planning and development process. The project team emphasized their commitment to incorporating public feedback, refining the project's design, and fostering transparency and collaboration with all stakeholders involved, as we work together to ensure the long-term success of the Cabangan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project.
