NIA Region III joined the Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity on watersheds nationwide on July 5, 2024 with the theme "Sibol para sa Patubig ni BayaNIAN 2024". Now on its 14th consecutive year, this activity is part of the National Greening Program (NGP) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). It coincided with the celebration of the 61st NIA Founding Anniversary.
Led by NIA OIC-Deputy Administrator for the Engineering and Operations (DAEO) Sector and concurrent Region III Manager Engr. Josephine B. Salazar, around 260 regional officials and staff, Division Managers, and selected personnel from different IMOs participated in the Tree Planting Activity along the watersheds of Tangilad Dam located in Orani, Bataan.
The participants have planted saplings of fruit-bearing trees, such as cacao, kasoy, langka, and kape. This activity aims to further protect NIA's sustainable watershed and raise awareness about the importance of planting and saving trees. It also included care and maintenance of previously planted seedlings and replacement of mortality, continuing efforts from the tree planting activities conducted in 2021, 2022, and 2023. This ensures that areas requiring immediate rehabilitation receive the necessary attention for sustainable environmental impact.
