Training Workshop for Data Privacy Act Awareness, Privacy Impact Assessment, and Cyber Security

Due to the Community Quarantine brought about by the COVID-19 Pandemic, a 3-day Training Workshop for Data Privacy Act Awareness, Privacy Impact Assessment, and Cyber Security was conducted via video conference last June 24-26, 2020. The training workshop, as required by the National Privacy Commission, aimed to create awareness on R.A. 10173 or otherwise known as Data Privacy Act Law of 2012. It was hosted by Management Information Division of NIA Central Office and was attended by the Administrative Section Chiefs from the different Regions and Projects.

The webinar was graced by lawyers and a Certified Privacy Manager who served as Resource Speakers for the workshop.

The Data Privacy Act of 2012, an act protecting individual personal information and communication system in the government and public sector, was discussed along with the different key definition about the said act. During the workshop, Breach management procedures, cyber-attacks and hacking was discussed along with the key terms that correlates the topics.

Also, there were sets of individual and group activities, that were given to the participants to assess their learning about the topics that were discussed to them. Some of them presented their outputs during the session virtually.

The training workshop, which is timely and relevant nowadays, aimed to create awareness to the NIAns about the importance of Data Privacy during this tough time.
