To assist in the validation and evaluation of irrigation projects funded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRM), the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Tarlac IMO welcomed personnel from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and NIA Regional Office III on November 20, 2024.
The initiative aimed to assess and validate the condition of irrigation infrastructure in areas affected by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Cyclone Carina. The areas covered included the Tarlac-San Miguel-O'Donnell Irrigation System (RIS) in Tarlac City, Victoria, Gerona, La Paz, and the Magao Communal Irrigation System (CIS) in Concepcion, Tarlac.
This validation is in line with the directives of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 3 to repair and restore irrigation systems that were damaged by recent natural disasters. The coordinated efforts between NIA Tarlac IMO, OCD, and NIA Region 3 ensure an efficient and thorough inspection process aimed at rebuilding infrastructure, strengthening disaster resilience, and enhancing agricultural productivity in the region.
