Despite persistent rains brought by Typhoon Enteng, NIA Region III conducted the 4th Inter-IMO Canal Maintenance and Visitation at the Zambales Irrigation Management Office (IMO) on September 5, 2024.
Spearheaded by Regional Manager Engr. Josephine B. Salazar and NIA Region III Inspectorate Team, the activity reflects the unwavering commitment of the NIA management to ensure irrigation efficiency for local farmers. The canals set for inspection were prepared by the Zambales Interim IMO under the leadership of Acting Division Manager Engr. Rolando C. Espino, together with O&M Section Chief Engr. Tito M. Lacanlale and other section heads.
The Team also hosted the KADIWA Program which offered affordable agricultural products to the community, including 200 sacks of rice, priced at 29 pesos per kilo. This provides much-needed supply to residents affected by rising food costs. The success of the canal inspection and KADIWA in Zambales IMO shows the resilience and determination of NIA, particularly under the leadership of Regional Manager Salazar. This collaborative effort ensured that irrigation systems and the well-being of local farmers were prioritized, even in the face of challenging weather conditions.
