ZAMBALES IMO - TURNOVER OF COMPLETED PROJECTS, IA CONSULTATION AND CONTRACT SIGNING

 

On March 13, 2024, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Senior Deputy Administrator Engr. Robert C. Suguitan and Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Sector and concurrent NIA Region III Manager Engr. Josephine B. Salazar spearheads the Zambales Irrigation Management Office (Zambales IMO) Turnover of Completed Projects, IA Consultation, and Contract Signing at Balin, Sambali, Iba, Zambales.

Headed by the Zambales IMO Acting Division Manager, Engr. Rolando C. Espino, the Zambales IMO has made notable strides in agricultural development, exemplified by the successful completion and handover of 21 projects from CY 2023 to its 19 Irrigators' Associations (IAs), directly benefiting 2,396 farmers. These encompass projects including Nayom RIS, Padagalan IA, Tatlongbi, Binabalian CIS, Lawis CIS, Sta. Rita Tinantapi CIS, Bangantalinga CIS, Upper Prenza CIS, Lower Prenza CIS, Bucao RIS, Panan-Dalayap CIS, San Felipe CIS (Capag-Ongan), Namanaan CIS, STRIS (Mapanuepe Riverlake IP), Rabanes CIS, STRIS (Camachile & Cavite), STRIS (Castillejos), San Pablo CIP, and Nibangon CIS.

The signing ceremony for the Modified Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Contracts took place between the NIA and 66 IAs in Zambales. This event marks the execution of Memorandum Circular No. 147, Series of 2023, which streamlines the process and paves the way for an enhanced Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Subsidy, escalating from P150/HA/Cropping to P500/HA/Cropping. This event signifies a major stride forward in improving agricultural productivity across the region.

The program was joined by Provincial Government officials of Zambales and government partner agencies of NIA such as the Department of Agriculture (DA-RFO III), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
