Conquering the heat of the incoming summer, the NIA Region 3 key staff under the leadership of Manager Josephine B. Salazar conducted its Review and Planning Workshop in Newtown Plaza Hotel in Baguio City on January 10 to 12, 2019.
The Regional Manager imparted the messages and marching orders of the NIA Administrator Gen Ricardo R Visaya relative with the project implementation of the agency. Included is the methodology of using the CCTVs and drones in monitoring of dams and other irrigation facilities. Likewise, the possibility of generating income through the constructions of Solar and Mini-Hydroelectric Powers.
Also the Administrators’ order of setting master plans which includes the updating of personnel inventory and continuing participation in Seminars and Trainings for adoption of new and high technologies. The use of fleet card was also suggested. And foremeost the continuous conduct of Stakeholders Conferences.
After the message, presentation of 2018 accomplishments and 2019 Target Setting and Action Plan of the three (3) Irrigation Management Offices followed with certains limitations as to the following.
1. Status of Contract Works
2. Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering
3. Institutional Development
4. Administrative and Finance
During the evaluation and critiquing, it was agreed that the conduct of Stakeholders Conferences be made preferrably on the 3rd and Last Quarter of the year to evade the possibility of using the activity as campaign mecjanism of politicians running for post this years’ national elections.
One of the highlights of the meeting is the adoption of NIA Region 3 of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) wherein some parameters, after the assessment fell under Non-Conformity. In lieu, the Audit Team discussed salient points to successfully accomplish all the requirements, parameters and standards of the ISO.
The last part of the Review and Planning was commitment signing, wherein all concerned rendered their signature in a Covenant to vow and pledge for the attainmentof the Regions Target for 2019.
