NIA TARLAC IMO FACILITATES MOA SIGNING FOR RICE FARMING SUPPORT PROGRAM

With the launch of Rice Contract Farming Program initiated by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) nationwide, NIA Tarlac IMO facilitated the first signing that took place on April 17, 2024 at the Engineering Conference Room, Brgy. Jefmin, Concepcion Tarlac.

The event benefitted seven Irrigators Associations (IAs) from the Communal Irrigation System (CIS), including Sta. Monica Kabalatian IA, Lilibangan IA, Hope of the West IA, Camangan West Land Owners Farmers IA of Moncada, Castillo Farmers Settlers IA, Dungan-San Francisco IA, and Sitio Telurayan Gigi FIA. The said IAs have a total of 153 farmer-beneficiaries.

Following this, another signing event was held on April 18, 2024 at the NIA TASMORIS Conference Room in Brgy. Matatalaib, Tarlac City with 128 farmer-beneficiaries from Matayumtayum Palac FIA, Lapaz Mendez FIA, Tisya FIA, and Barbas Maet FIA.

The contract farming program aims to increase rice buffer stocks in the province by providing assistance and compensation to farmers for a total of 422.24 hectares of contracted area. This initiative has not only provided financial benefits but has also lifted the morale of farmer-beneficiaries, instilling optimism for the future’s financial gains.

The program exemplifies the initiative and visionary leadership of NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen and NIA OIC-Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Sector and Concurrent NIA Region III Manager Engr. Josephine B. Salazar.
