The staff of the Pampanga Delta River Irrigation System (PDRIS) of the NIA Pampanga-Bataan IMO has successfully collected and distributed seeds to the Irrigators Associations (IAs) in Division V.This initiative is part of the Rice Contract Farming Program which aims to enhance rice production and ensure food security.
The distributed seeds are of the variety NSIC 222 Tubigan 18 and will be planted across 125.5 hectares. The participating IAs are the First San Pedro San Simon IA, Nagkakaisang Magpapatubig ng Sta. Rita, San Carlos Sta Rita San Pedro IA, Nagdadamayang Magpapatubig ng San Sebastian IA, and Barangay San Pedro, San Juan (Timak), and San Simon Farmers IA.
Indeed, the said program represents a collaborative effort between NIA and local farmers to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region.
