Sustainable Livelihood Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)

NIA Region III held a coordination meeting regarding the Sustainable Livelihood Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on June 4, 2024 at General Tinio Gymnasium, Nueva Ecija. The program aims to identify the officers of the newly organized farmers associations that are originally members of the irrigators associations (IAs) monitored by NIA. The beneficiaries of the said program are intended for the IAs. The Sustainable Livelihood Program - Zero Hunger, coordinated by Area Monitor Ms. Mary Jane M. Santos, PDO III of DSWD Region III, will provide capitalization to farmers on the entire cropping season, providing them the seeds, fertilizer, insecticides, inputs, other farming materials, and rental cost of the land area to be utilized. Meanwhile, NIA will provide the irrigation service to sustain their crops. The program aims to identify the needs of the farmers on a cropping basis so that DSWD can come up with a proposal to be approved and implemented this coming season.

The convergence program of NIA and DSWD will promote the general welfare of the community through the National Government directed to the community and end user. Representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU) also attended the program and imparted encouragement to the farmers so that the efforts of the National Government shall not go in vain. General Tinio Municipal Mayor Hon. Isidro Pajarilliaga highlighted the importance of availing this kind of program from the government.
