NIA BULACAN IMO DISTRIBUTES IN-KIND FARM INPUTS

The Operations and Maintenance Section of the NIA Bulacan Irrigation Management Office (Bulacan IMO), under the supervision of Division Manager Engr. Placida C. Cordero and led by O&M Chief Engr. Ernesto L. Mapoy, Jr., coordinated with the Commission on Audit (COA) for the auditing process of the In-Kind Farm Inputs Compensation as part of NIA’s Rice Farming Support Program. The audit was conducted upon the supplier's delivery on June 13, 2024. It was followed by the successful distribution of various in-kind farm inputs on June 14, 2024.

The respective Irrigators Associations (IAs) under contract farming received seven different types of farm inputs, as follows:

• Molluscicides (Niclomax 70 WP for snail killer),
• Herbicides (Grastop 70 EC for post-emergence grass killer),
• Herbicide (Slam 2.5 EC insecticides for major weed species of Leptochloa
• Pesticide (Sofit 300 EC for green leafhopper, armyworm, rice bug, leaffolder, and black bug),
Fungicides (Fungufree 50 WP Plus for blast, sheath blight)
Fungicides (Armure 300 EC as a grain fuller and cleaner), and
Foliar enhancers (Yield Master 15-15-30 for flowering and fruit development)

The Operations personnel efficiently delivered the said farm inputs from the pickup point at NIA Region III – Motorpool Warehouse to the IA designated drop-off areas in Barangay Cansinala, Apalit, Pampanga, and the barangays of Pulong Bayabas, Pansumaloc, Pinacpinacan, and Paco in the Municipality of San Rafael, Bulacan. This initiative supports the contract farming program and agricultural compensation.

This event aims to promote strong ties, to build harmonious partnership and camaraderie among NIA, government sector, private institutions, farmer-beneficiaries in support to rice farming. Rice farming aims to improve, accelerate, and sustain quality rice production in support of the government’s program on attaining rice sufficiency through the efficient provision of irrigation water and necessary agricultural inputs to enhance farmers’ productivity and competitiveness.
