NIA TARLAC AND TAU FORGE AHEAD WITH MODEL FARM COLLABORATION IN CONCEPTION

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Camiling RIS (CAMRIS) distributed diversified seeds to 26 farmer-beneficiaries on November 22, 2024. These efforts align with Memorandum Circular No. 87, s. 2024, which provides for the "Gulayamanan" or "Gulayan sa Canal" program. The initiative encourages the planting of crops along irrigation canals and structures to maximize underutilized spaces for diversified crop production.

This will promote food security for the farmers while allowing them to earn more by engaging in sustainable agriculture activities. The seeds will be used for planting crops suitable for these areas of the world, thereby increasing both environmental conservation and the development of livelihoods.

Through resource optimization and the enhancement of livelihoods, this program reflects the collaborative efforts by the NIA and farmers to enhance long-term agricultural sustainability.
